To keep your Shimano Nasci 4000 FC XG spinning reel in top shape and working great for years to come, follow these maintenance tips:
- Rinse the reel with fresh water after each use, especially after saltwater fishing. This helps remove salt and prevents rust.
- Dry the reel thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing. Pay extra attention to the spool, bail arm, and handle.
- Regularly oil moving parts with good quality reel oil. Focus on the bail arm, roller, and line roller for best performance.
- Check and tighten any loose screws or parts before and after fishing trips to keep the reel in good condition.
- Store the reel in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent moisture damage and rust.
- Every so often, take the reel apart (if you know how) for a deep clean and re-oiling. This is especially important after heavy use or exposure to tough conditions.
- Check the line roller and bail wire for any signs of wear or damage, as these parts are important for smooth operation.
- Clean the drag washers if you notice any decrease in drag performance, using a mild cleaner and re-lubricating with drag grease.
